Visitor Information:

The Brooklyn Bridge is one of the four major bridges built to span the East River. When it was opened in 1883 it was the longest suspension bridge in the world with a main span of 1600 feet. The bridge designed by John Augustus Roebling was an engineering marvel with its neo-gothic towers and steel-wire cables.

Visitor Tips:
You can take a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge - the entrance is near the Fed Court Building. Plan on about an hour and bring your camera. Under the Brooklyn Bridge at Water Street is the oldest operating business in New York. The Bridge Cafe was built in 1794 and serves a good lunch!
