Immerse yourself in Jewish history and culture at the magnificent newly restored Eldridge Street Synagogue. Tours tell the story of this 1887 National Historic Landmark the spiritual center of Jewish life on the Lower East Side and the vibrant immigrant community that built it.
Hours:
Beginning December 3, 2007 the Eldridge Street Synagogue will once again be open for tours.
Sunday-Thursday between 10 am and 4 pm The synagogue is closed to the public on Jewish and major national holidays.
Admission:
Adults: $10 Students and senior: $8 Children 5-18: $6 Free for members and children under 5 years of age.
Directions:
SUBWAY F train to East Broadway station. Follow signs to Rutgers Street exit (at north end of station); exit and proceed four blocks west on Canal. Turn left on Eldridge Street. The Synagogue will be on your left. (5 minute walk from subway station).
B & D to Grand Street station. Walk east on Grand to Eldridge Street. Turn right onto Eldridge and walk south 2 blocks. The Synagogue will be on your left. (5 minute walk from subway station).
#6, N or R train to Canal Street station. Head east and walk on the north side of Canal Street. You will need to continue walking east past the entrance to the Manhattan Bridge. Turn right on Eldridge Street. The Synagogue will be on your left. (10 minute walk from subway station).
