Overlooking the Hudson River from the Morningside Heights section of Manhattan, General Grant National Memorial is the largest tomb in North America. Grant's Tomb (as it is commonly called) is not only the final resting place of the General but a memorial to his life and accomplishments.
General Grant National Memorial is open daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
The site is closed every New Year's Day (January 1), Thanksgiving Day (4th Thursday in November), and Christmas Day (December 25).
The site may close in cases of inclement weather, such as severe snow storms. In those instances, please call ahead to verify whether or not the site will be open.
Free guided tours are available to the public daily at 10:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 2:00 PM, and 4:00 PM. The schedule is subject to staff availability.
Groups of 10 or more can make reservations for private programs by completing the reservation form and faxing it to (212) 932-9631. Reservations are available any time between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Groups must be scheduled at least 2 weeks in advance. For more information about group reservations, please call (212) 666-1640.
Hours: Self-guided tours are available Monday through Sunday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Directions: Subway Take the 1 (red) train to the 116th Street-Columbia University stop at Broadway. Walk six blocks North to 122nd Street and two blocks West to Riverside Drive.
Bus Take the M11 bus to Amsterdam Avenue and West 118th Street.
