The Washington Arch was built in 1892 and replaced the wooden arch from 1889 to commemorate the centennial of Washingtons inauguration. The arch is modeled after the Arc de Triomphe in Paris and features 2 statues of George Washington on the north face of the arch. The arch is located in Washington Square Park which features bocce courts, game tables, and playgrounds. NYU student hangout.
