Best places to stay in Midtown Manhattan:
Midtown West is home to many of New York's top attractions, such as Rockefeller Center, the United Nations, Grand Central Terminal. There are many good hotel choices here. East of Park Avenue the neighborhood has many large corporate office building. If you need to stay near the UN, try the the Millennium UN Plaza. It has wonderful views of the city and Bridges along the East River.
On Park Ave. you have some higher priced Luxury options that are nice hotels, The Kitano, 70 Park Ave, the Helmsley, and the Grand Hyatt, however there are a few options nearby that get the top ratings online, the Library, the Casablanca and are a little less costly than their Park Avenue neighbors. Bryant Park, Iroquois, and Morgan's are also some good value picks near Grand Central.
Lower on 5th as you begin moving down towards Murray Hill, is the highly rated and very pricey Setai. Moving up on 5th Ave, there is the Omni Berkshire Place, it features rooms that are larger than typical in Manhattan. As you move towards Broadway you start getting into the west side where the Broadway Theater District is located. The key to choosing a hotel here is to realize that once you get below 42nd street away from Broadway towards Bryant Park and areas southeast, it gets less touristy and a bit quieter. The cluster of hotels below Grand Central are a great choice for those that want to be near all the tourist attractions, but not in the crazy noise of Times Square. |
