Things to Do in the Neighborhood:
The Lower Manhattan area is the financial district of NY, and the oldest part of the city. At the tip in Battery Park is Castle Clinton, the point of departure for the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Nearby is the Jewish Heritage Museum and the Skyscraper Museum. Moving up on Broadway towards Trinity Church, and St Pau'ls Chapelis the Wall Street financial center and the New York Stock Exchange. Be sure to visit Federal Hall - where George Washington was sworn in as first President. Other area sights are the Federal Reserve Building which houses the country's gold supply.
Towards the Hudson River is the former site of the World Trade Center, which is largely a construction site. You can take a tour of the area from the Tribute WTC Visitor Center. On the East River side is the South Street Seaport featuring Pier 17 which includes shops and restaurants. (Great Views of the Brooklyn Bridge). The Fulton Fish Market is opened early in the morning selling fresh fish to locals. Be sure to visit the Nautical Museum and memorial to the Titanic.
